Having
provided renovated bikes for over 20 years, we know what is needed for each one
to maximise your cycling experience. We do this by ensuring that each is
presented in a safe, efficient & effective condition. We don't want you to have
to come back to have small niggling problems sorted out.
We only want to come back to us for the
right reasons!
1. Our Renovated Bikes:
We're the last such shop left in Leeds (and perhaps The
North) which provides reconditioned bikes as part of our core activities (if
other shops could renovate such bikes and if there was any serious profit in
them, they'd all be providing them!).
Although we provide adult bikes from £75 (and children's
bikes from £30), only those at £200 and over shown below - the sub-£200 bikes
are usually sold before they make it to this page. In fact, many of the +£200
don't get a chance to get on here.
We try our utmost to avoid anything with plastic brakes and
we wont sell anything with incompatible gear systems, worn transmission, worn
bearing, slack spokes, etc.
2. Our New Bikes:
We
don't routinely have many new bikes in stock. However, due to our independent
nature, we have an extensive range of suppliers which means that we can acquire
current models from Raleigh, Giant, Animal, Dawes, Coyote, Onza, etc.
Please note that we will only supply these bicycles with an rrp of £500 or above
- at a lower price AND fully built-up (as above) - we believe that (for those
who can afford them) this should be minimum price for a bicycle with quality
components.
We
will also ask you to return the new bike to us after 20 to 100 miles (after the
bedding-in period) for (free) re-adjustments.
3. All Our Bikes:
Our
prices take into account accessories and upgrades included (mudguards, rack,
lights, forks, computer, etc.) as applicable.
When you buy a new or a pre-owned
bicycle from us you can assured that all our bikes:
-
have been through our thorough workshop check (every: nut,
bolt, spoke, cable, square inch of frame, link in the chain, every spoke,
bearings, etc.) - how many other shops can say that about their NEW bikes?
-
have been fully set up (brakes set, gearing set, bearings
set, spoke tensions set, wheels trued, etc.).
-
have had the transmission components checked for minimal
wear.
-
have had all components replaced as necessary (e.g. brake
pads, wheels, tyres, transmission components, etc.).
-
have been test ridden by ourselves (usually twice).
-
are fully set-up and ready to test ride.
-
are guaranteed not to be stolen or write-offs (bent or
damaged frames).
As a
prospective purchaser, you are strongly advised to test ride your potential
purchase for size, gearing, comfort & intended use - we're lucky enough to have
a quiet location for you to do this. You will need some serious identification
and/or the value of the bike to test ride it. Whether you buy from us or from
anyone else, this advice still applies - if anyone does not allow to test ride a
bike, walk away!
If
you do decide to buy any bike from us, we will make a point of advising you on
saddle height, tyre pressures, appropriate gears usage, security & safety,
transporting issues, basic home maintenance (brakes adjustment, lubricating the
transmission, etc.). Did you last bike shop do this for you?
We're not here to
sell you anything - we believe that our bikes should sell themselves!

A lovely bike for the right
customer at a lovely price. |

The
original owner (a thoroughly nice and elderly gentleman) came all the way from
Durham to sell us this bike - he liked what we do and the way we run our
business! Whilst suffering from back-related medical issues, he reduced the gear
ratios to suit his needs (changed items: chainset, chain, cassette, front & rear
mechs and gear cabling).
Frame
